Ambi Subramaniam

Subramaniam from the age of three and gave his first performance at the age of seven. He has received awards and recognitions including the Ritz Icon of the Year Award, the Rotary Youth Award, two Global Indian Music Awards, and was awarded a ‘Golden Violin’ from Sri Jayendra Saraswati when he was 18. He was named among GQ's 25 Most Influential Young Indians in 2021 and received the prestigious ‘BraVo’ award from Russia at the Bolshoi theatre in 2025. Hailed as "the new king of Indian classical violin" (The Times of India) and “India’s Itzhak Pearlmann," (Ozy Magazine), Ambi has performed around the world, playing solos and duets with his father, including at the prestigious Dussehra Festival at the Mysore Palace, the Menuhin Festival in Gstaad, the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival, the Jay Pritzker Pavillion in Chicago, the Royal Festival Hall in London, the Maximum India Festival at Kennedy, the Royal Opera House, Muscat, and the Philharmonie de Paris in Paris. Ambi has been invited to perform at TEDx events to expose new audiences to Carnatic music, and at age 13 was invited to present a concert for the then President of India HE APJ Abdul Kalam for the Pravasi Bharitiya Divas. Apart from performing, Ambi is actively involved in teaching. Along with his sister Bindu, he runs the SaPa in Schools program, which teaches music to over 45,000 young children in schools. He has co-authored over 30 textbooks in total, including India’s first series of textbooks dedicated to teaching the Carnatic violin. Ambi is also a youth delegate at the United Nations for the Sri Chinmoy Peace Meditation group. Ambi has a Ph.D. in developing a global violin technique (2020), an MPhil in Music (2014) and an MBA in Finance (2012) and an LTCL in the western violin from the Trinity College of Music.
