Biography

Ambi Subramaniam was born in Los Angeles to violinist L. Subramaniam and vocalist Viji Subramaniam, and moved to Bengaluru with his family as a child. He began performing on stage early and grew up inside the Lakshminarayana-Subramaniam violin lineage.

His work spans Carnatic, Western classical, orchestral, fusion, and collaborative music. He has performed internationally and is associated with projects that connect Indian violin language to ensemble and global concert formats.

Ambi is closely connected to the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts and SaPa in Schools, using performance and education together to introduce music to younger learners.
