B. Sasikumar

B. Sasikumar was born in Thiruvalla and trained first with his father M. K. Bhaskara Panicker, a nadaswaram musician and composer. He later studied at Swati Thirunal College of Music with violin as his main subject.

He began teaching at Swati Thirunal College of Music and then joined All India Radio, Trivandrum, as a staff violin artist. His AIR career included concerts, features, orchestral work, devotional music, and original compositions.

Sasikumar accompanied leading Carnatic musicians and was also respected as a guru. His students included his nephew Balabhaskar, whose own fusion career carried part of this Kerala violin lineage into popular culture.
