The journey

Biography

Shri C.A. Rajasekar comes from a family where music has always been a way of life. He is the son of the famous violinist Shri Chittoor Appanna Bagavathar and Smt. Madurambal, and his grandfather, Shri Vedachala Iyer, was also a skilled player of both the violin and the flute. Growing up surrounded by his family and brothers who all played the violin, music came naturally to him from a very young age. This rich background gave him a strong foundation and a deep love for Carnatic classical music that would shape his whole life. His musical journey started when he was just four years old, taking his first singing lessons from his father. Soon after, his father started teaching him the violin, and it wasn't long before young Rajasekar was performing alongside him on stage. To build on his skills, he went on to learn from the legendary violinist Sangita Kalanidhi Shri M. Chandrasekaran. He didn't stop there—he also learned Western classical music from Shri V.S. Narasimhan to better understand different playing styles, making him a very versatile musician. Beyond playing music, Shri Rajasekar and his family have spent years helping others enjoy and celebrate it. In their hometown, his family regularly hosted wonderful music festivals like the annual *Shri Purandaradasa Festival*, bringing top musicians together to perform. They also organized the *Akhanda Gaanam*, a grand 24-hour non-stop event where artists sang the holy songs of Saint Tyagaraja all day and night. Helping out with these events as a young boy taught him humility, kindness, and a true spirit of service to the community. With over 40 years of teaching experience, Shri Rajasekar is loved by students all around the world. He was named "Aasthana Vidwan" by Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam in 2007 and was awarded the "Best Guru" title by the VDS Arts Academy. Today, he uses online classes to teach students from different countries, making sure anyone with a passion for the violin can learn. Known for his warm smile, good sense of humor, and gentle approach, he continues to inspire music lovers everywhere.
