Dr Veena Suresh

Initiated into the field of Music at an early age by mother Smt Gowramma, started learning under Vid M S Jayamma. Later became a disciple of Vid Anoor S Ramakrishna and comtinued under Vid H K Narasimhamurthy. She completed M A in Music from Bangalore University securing I Rank. She was further trained under Padmabhushana Prof T N Krishnan. Also she had the oppurtunity to train under Pandit Krishanand in Hindustani Music for a brief period. The University of Mysore has awarded P hd in Music for her thesis "ಕರ್ನಾಟಕ ಸಂಗೀತದಲ್ಲಿ ವಿವಾದಿ ಜನ್ಯರಾಗಗಳ ಸ್ಥಾನಮಾನದ ಒಂದು ಅಧ್ಯಯನ" under the guidance of Dr R N Sreelatha. She has been performing from the past 40 years both as a solo artist as well as accompaniying artist in various sabhas throughout the country. As an accomplished artist she has accompanied many top ranked artists including Vid Aruna Sairam, Vid Sanjay Subramanya, Vid R K Padmanabha and Vid D V Nagaraj, Vid S Shankar, Vid Neela Ramgopal, Dr R N Sreelatha, Dr Sukanya Prabhakar, Vid T R Srinath and others apart from AIR broadcasts and Doordarshan telecasts. She has received Nyampathi Shanthabai Prize for being the best candidate and Karnataka State Youth services award for securing highest marks in M A Music. She has also been selected as the best accompaniying artist during the annual conferences of Gayana Samaja in 1992 and Ganakala Parishat in 1999. She has been awarded with many titles by prestigious sabhas for her contributions to the field of music including "Kalatapaswi", "Naada Siri", "Kala Suma", "Lalitha Kala Suma" and "Manju Dasa".
