Biography

Dwaram Bhavanarayana Rao was born in Bapatla to Dwaram Venkataswamy Naidu and Venkata Jaggayyamma. He trained under his father and Prof. P. Sambamurthy, placing him directly inside the Dwaram violin lineage.

He served as principal of Maharajah's Government College of Music and Dance at Vizianagaram from 1962 to 1973, and later as principal of Government Music College at Vijayawada.

Beyond performance and administration, he translated important musicological works including Brihaddeshi, Chaturdandi Prakasika, and Dattilam into Telugu. He received honours from Andhra Pradesh institutions and remained connected to the Madras Music Academy advisory board.
