M. S. Gopalakrishnan
1931Parur style violin maestro
Biography
Sri M. S. Gopalakrishnan, born in 1931, is remembered as a twentieth-century trendsetter.
Parur Sundaram Iyer's sons, M. S. Anantharaman and M. S. Gopalakrishnan, earned fame in their own right as violin maestros.
Sundaram Iyer's later solo performances became trio concerts with his sons, with Gopalakrishnan providing the third violin.
This places M. S. Gopalakrishnan inside the Parur style and its Carnatic-Hindustani bridge, a family tradition widely followed by violinists.
