H.M.Smitha has initiated into Carnatic Vocal and Violin at the age of 5. Smitha's achievements are unique blend of excellence in two fields that both require tremendous focus and regour.She is a daughter of Sri H.V.Manjunath and Smt A.V.Vijayalakshmi,born at Mysore on 11th November. She is a M.Com graduate from University Of Mysore. Smitha is an exceptional student, who is a desciple of renowed Violinist Vid.Sri.H.K.Narasimha Murthy,Vid HN Bhaskar on Violin and Vid Smt H.N.Rajalakshmi & Vid Pushpa Srinivasan on vocal. In the feild of Carnatic Vocal and Carnatic Violin, She has been presented a number of Awards and Scholarships.These include Central Government Junior and Senior Music Scholarships.She has performed many concerts in India and abroad. She gave her first performance at the age of 11. She has won prizes in numerous compitions including those conducted by Bangalore Gayana Samaja, Malleswaram Sangeetha Sabha and All India Radio( National Level).She is an “A’’ Grade artist of Bangalore Akashavani. She is a Rank Holder in Senior level music examination on both Vocal and Violin. She has accompanied well known Senior artists of Karnataka and Other places on Violin like Vid Dr R.K.Srikantan, Vid Smt Ranjani Gayatri, Vid Abhishek Raghuraman,Veena Vid Jayanthi Kumaresh, Vid Aruna Sairam, Vid Sudha Raghunathan, Flute Vid S Shashank, Vid Neyveli Santanagopalan,Vid S.Shankar,Vid Saketharaman,Vid M.S.Sheela,Vid T.S.Satyavathi, Vid A.Chandan Kumar, and given duet Concerts with Vid H.K.NarasimhaMurthy, Vid H.N.Bhaskar and with her Sister H.M.Sindhu.
