The journey
Biography
Musical profile of H. Vimala Mani. Firstly, I wish to offer my sincere salutations to the Almighty, my parents late Smt H.Rukmini & late Sri H.Suryanarayana Rao, all my Gurus, in framing me to what I am today in my life. I am from a musicians' family from my mother's side. My maternal grand father late Hebbani Krishna Shastri was a very well known Harikatha exponent. My mother & all the three of my maternal uncles were well trained in Karnataka music. I learnt Karnatak music with advanced lessons from my mother & my maternal uncle late Sri.Hebbani .K. Venkataramana Shastri, considerably for quite a long time. I got initiated into violin playing by another maternal uncle late Sri H.K.Suryanarayana Shastri, who taught me for a few months. Finally, I was fortunate enough to learn violin playing starting with basics from my revered Guru Ganakala Bhushana Vid. late Sri Anoor S. Ramakrishna Sir, Principal of Sri Ayyanar College of Music, Bangalore (which was founded by the legendary Violinist late Sri Mysore T. Chowdaiah in 1952) from 1975 untill his demise. The sincere & able guidance of my Guru, made me to play solo & accompany the artists. As a result of this, I have given a few solo as well as accompaniment for the good old artists of my student days. With my mentor's advice I have taught music to several aspired students, to the best of my ability. Remembering with much gratitude, I offer my humble pranams to God, thank my parents, siblings, all my Gurus, my husband late Sri. A.S.Mani, our son Anoor Phaneendra Sharma who is also a good vocalist, all the members of my in-laws, paternal & maternal families, well wishers who supported me directly & indirectly with much affection & love to build up my musical career.
