Biography

Ganesh Rajagopalan was born in Kanpur in 1964. His father T. S. Rajagopalan began teaching him music at home when he was very young, and Ganesh started appearing as a performer early in life.

With his brother Kumaresh Rajagopalan, he became known through the violin duo Ganesh and Kumaresh, also called the Violin Brothers or Fiddling Monks. Their concert identity centres on Carnatic violin, original compositions, and the Raga Pravaham approach to raga and tala exploration.

Ganesh Rajagopalan has composed for films and dance productions, received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award with Kumaresh Rajagopalan in 2018 for Carnatic instrumental music on violin, and has also been part of Shakti's Grammy-winning 2023 album This Moment.
