Biography

Nagai Muralidharan was born on December 4, 1958 in Chennai. He began violin lessons with his mother R. Komalavalli and later studied with R. S. Gopalakrishnan.

He gave his first performance at the age of ten and went on to accompany a large roster of senior Carnatic musicians. From 1978 to 2004, he also worked as a violin artist at All India Radio in Tiruchirappalli.

His recognitions include the Tamil Nadu Kalaimamani and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award. Nagai Sriram was his nephew and advanced disciple.
