Biography

R. K. Shriramkumar was born on October 4, 1966 and comes from the Rudrapatna family of musicians in Karnataka. He is the grandson of violinist R. K. Venkatarama Shastri and grand-nephew of R. K. Srikanthan.

He is widely respected as a soloist and accompanist in Carnatic music, especially for the way his violin follows and supports vocal phrasing.

Shriramkumar is also connected to archival and documentation work in Indian performing arts, including Shabda, which he co-founded with H. K. Venkatram and T. M. Krishna.
